IS IT SAFE TO FLY WITH CBD OIL?
When traveling from destination to destination, most people tend to bring their important essentials, right?
Well once you start experiencing the benefits of CBD in your daily lifestyle, there's no doubt in your mind you'd like to bring your products with you.
But is it safe to bring along with you while traveling?
In most cases, it is! Before you jet off with your CBD products on the plane, here are a few considerations you need to know.
FLYING WITH CBD OIL IN YOUR LUGGAGE
Flying with hemp-derived CBD oil is legally permitted under federal law, provided the product meets the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules around container sizes of liquids and gels.
While it is the TSA's policy to focus on air safety issues and not actively search for cannabis, they can stop you from attempting to travel with other forms of cannabis containing high levels of THC. Since all of our CBD products that we carry contain no more than 0.3% THC you should have no issues getting through TSA security checks.
While hemp-derived CBD oil is legal in the U.S, it is suggested that you research the laws in the states you are flying from and to. Each individual states are able to pass their own laws regulating hemp-derived CBD, and a small number of states have chosen to do so unfortunately placing hemp CBD products into the same category as marijuana. These state laws may impact how local security checkpoints screen and it is a good idea to look up the rules and laws wherever you're planning on going.
TSA RULES AND REQUIREMENTS
To make sure you're able to pass the security checkpoint without any issues, you want to be sure that your CBD products are within TSA requirements.
The TSA Liquids Rules states that you cannot carry on bottles or containers that hold more than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters of liquid. Any liquid, gel, aerosol, paste or cream in a container larger than this will be flagged, removed, and require additional screening.
TSA requires that all smaller sized containers of liquids and gels go through the security checkpoint in a single quart-size, resealable bag. Before going through security, you'll need to remove your plastic bag holding your CBD products and other liquid containers so that they go through the x-ray machine.
If you're looking for an easier way to bring your CBD products on board and don't want to go through the hassle of TSA liquid rules, the easiest way to take our hemp CBD products with you on your travel adventures than with our RSHO CBD Capsules. These convenient capsules provide you with 25mg per serving, and because they aren't a liquid or gel, they pack easily and can be left in your carry-on bag at the TSA checkpoint.
CAN YOU USE CBD ON THE PLANE?
Traveling doesn't need to keep you from encouraging balance in your body with daily CBD. In nearly every case, you can even use our CBD products while you're on the plane.
You can use our RSHO Salve to help rehydrate your lips, hands, or anywhere on your body that needs a little more moisture.
If you typically use a vaping cartridge to consume your daily CBD, you will need to wait until you get off of the plane before using the product. Vaping and smoking any product is not permitted on airplanes.
TIPS FOR FLYING WITH CBD
If you're still planning on flying somewhere with your favorite CBD products, here's how you can make sure that you are following the law and TSA rules.
- Check your CBD products labels Make sure that the label of your CBD product clearly signifies that it is made from hemp.
- Pack your CBD product in the right bag If your CBD supplement is 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less, it can be stored in a quart-size resealable bag with your other liquid products like toiletries and be carried on the plane. Store it in your carry-on where it's easily accessible so you can take it out quickly when you go through security check. Any liquid CBD products that are more than 3.4 ounces need to go into a checked bag.
- Only fly with hemp-derived CBD oil products Not all CBD products are made from hemp. If you have obtained cannabis products elsewhere that are derived from marijuana, keep in mind that they will likely contain THC levels above the federal thresholds. This includes most CBD products purchased from a medical or recreational marijuana dispensary. The TSA is a federal agency, which means federal laws apply in airports. If a TSA security officer observes marijuana products during security, they will refer the matter to a law enforcement officer on scene.
